Ex-President Muhammad Buhari
Former President Muhammadu Buhari is dead.
His former spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu, confirmed the development on Sunday afternoon, confirmed this.
According to him, Buhari died on Sunday at a hospital in the United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, TheCaveat.com.ng gathered from reliable presidency source that President Bola Tinubu has dispatched the Vice President, Alhaji Kashim Shettima to travel to London to convey Buhari’s remains back home.
Buhari died in London on Sunday at about 4.30 pm, following a prolonged illness.
It was gathered that Tinubu has spoken with Mrs Aishat Buhari, the former President’s widow and offered his deep condolences.
The President also directed Shettima to proceed to the United Kingdom to accompany Buhari’s remains back to Nigeria.
The late Buhari was twice elected Nigeria’s President in 2015 and 2023.
He also served as military Head of State between January 1984 and August 1985.
President Tinubu has ordered flags at half-staff as a mark of respect for the departed leader.
