…Ojajuni urges students to pursue academic excellence, avoid social vices

A Professor at the University of Lagos, Prof. Akinmosin Adewale, has commended the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, for his sustained internal security initiatives and strengthened community policing efforts across the state.

The commendation came on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Department of Geosciences, University of Lagos, Akoka, to the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

TheCaveat.com.ng reports that the delegation, made up of lecturers and students from the Departments of Geology and Geophysics, was led by Prof. Adewale as part of a geological fieldwork excursion within Ogun State.





The visit served as a platform for academic interaction and further strengthened collaboration between the police and academic institutions on youth development and public safety awareness.

Prof. Adewale expressed appreciation to the police command for the warm reception accorded the delegation, stressing that exposure to security institutions is essential in fostering civic responsibility among students and young scholars.

Speaking during the engagement, CP Ojajuni commended the students for their dedication to academic pursuits and urged them to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to building a brighter future. He emphasized that education remains a vital pathway to personal success and national development.

The Commissioner of Police also warned the students against involvement in social vices such as cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractice, and other criminal activities, noting that such behaviours could destroy their future and threaten societal peace. He reiterated that discipline, integrity, and hard work remain the pillars of lasting success.

Members of the command’s management team also addressed the students during an interactive session. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, DCP Ibrahim Abdul; Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Gbenga Adeoye; and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Administration, ACP Akinmoladun Olu Moore, all emphasized the importance of lawful conduct, patriotism, and responsible citizenship.

They further encouraged the students to become ambassadors of peace within their academic communities and to partner with security agencies in promoting community safety.

The engagement provided the students with valuable insight into policing operations and underscored the importance of collaboration between security agencies and academic institutions in building a safer society.

In his vote of thanks, the students’ representative, Mr. Adeniyi Oluwatobi, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Police and members of the management team for the warm reception, mentorship, and impactful interaction with the delegation.
