200 Youths Renounce Cultism In Ikorodu

200 ex-cultists, mainly youth, yesterday came out bold and renounced cultism, in Ikorodu, a sprawling town in Lagos state, Nigeria.


This happened in an open air epoch making ceremony which hosted Lagos State Police Commissioner,  Edgal Imohimi,  his police officers as well as traditional rulers in the state.

The 200 youths who renounced their membership from different cult groups such as Black Axe, Buccaneers, Aiye and Eiye confraternities bring to 860 youths in the state toeing same honourable line.


Imohimi who was grateful to the traditional ruler of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, the Local government Chairman, Hon. Wasiu and stakeholders of IGP Police /Community partnership, enjoined the contrite ex-cultists to turn a new leaf.

Imohimi also thanked the stakeholders in security matters for  not only playing a leading role in the IGP project, but assisting the police in counselling cultists to renounce cultism, also admonished the repentant ex-cultists to denounced cultism forever.


He urged them to continue on the path of peace, honour they have already chosen as against their earlier life style of self- destruction and destruction, maiming and killings of others.

He also enjoined them,  to as a matter of great urgency, reach out to the their recalcitrants ex-colleagues to come out of their cocoons and embrace the role of future visionary leaders. 


Speaking at the ceremony yesterday, a member of the Eminent Persons Forum, EPF, Engr. Akin Bhadmus told TheCaveat.info that for several years, young men who found love for cultist confraternities such as Aiye, Black Axe, Eiye and Buccaneers, have held residents and visitors to Ikorodu and   adjoining towns hostage until God brought Imohimi as a solution.

Meanwhile, Imohimi has directed the Police Area Commander in charge of area N (Ijede), Mr. Mohammadu Amodu to get the biometrics of the young men so as to enable the police have access to them for more  counselling.
