The Papalanto area of Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, on Wednesday began to wear a new look, as the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE and LAFARGE partner to make both sides of the road motorable for all vehicles.
The palliative work, which started at Papalanto extends to Sabo, weighbridge area, down to Abule Oko, prompting diversion of traffic to the other lane inbound Abeokuta.
Fielding questions from our Correspondent, the TRACE Ifo Diversional Commander, Oyebola Michael Adetunji, said TRACE partners Lafarge in compliance with the directive of the TRACE Commander, Prince 'Seni Ogunyemi, that the Agency should solicit assistance of corporate organisations within our axis to use their CSR to assist where necessary on palliative work.
The Divisional Commander commented that fixing the outbound of the road will help motorists to use both side of the road and prevent driving against traffic, aka 'One Way' to avert usual occurrence of road accident.
While advising motoring public enroute the area to drive with caution and maintain lane discipline, the TRACE Commander repeated warning against 'One Way' driving, now that the road had been fixed.
Speaking in the same vein, on behalf of Larfarge management, the Quarry Manager, Engineer Dayo Omotosho said Lafarge was interested in partnering TRACE as part of its social responsibility to public.
Lafarge representative also added that his company's motive in collaborating with TRACE to fix the failed portions is to make the road motorable for the users and to ease the flow of traffic at accident-prone areas, especially, at Papalanto Junction area on Lagos Abeokuta Expressway.

It's not too much for Lafarge to fix the road from Arigbajo to Wasimi permanently as a corporate social responsibility. The economic importance of the road can't be over-- emphasized.
