The 5-day Skill Acquisition and Empowerment Programme organized by Ota Central Lions Club came to a colorful and impactful close on Friday, May 23, 2025, with remarkable presentations from participants across the four training tracks—Fashion Design, Makeup Artistry, Catering, and Digital Skills.
The graduation event was a celebration of learning, creativity, and community impact. Participants received Certificates of Attendance, while outstanding trainees were honoured with cash prizes for excelling in their various fields:
• Dada Abisola – Best in Fashion Design
• Obagbile Dare – Best in Digital Skills
• Ologbonori Precious – Best in Makeup Artistry
• Arileola Samod – Best in Catering
In addition, the President and Vice President of the cohort were recognized with Leadership Awards, while the Overall Best Participant award was presented to Osayande Itua of the Catering Class.
In a generous gesture of support, all participants in the Makeup Class received starter packs, courtesy of Lion Adenike Aluko, a renowned beautician and the Club’s Director of Marketing and Communications.
The Special Guest of Honour, Lion Oluomo TAK Oloyede, praised the initiative as “a generational impact,” commending the Club’s commitment to youth empowerment and future-focused service.
Speaking at the event, the Charter President, Lion Asiwaju Oke, reaffirmed the Club’s dedication to empowerment through service, citing youth development as a core focus of his administration. He listed past interventions, including:
• Provision of Free JAMB Forms to students
• Job and internship placements for young people
• Renovation of a nursery classroom and provision of books and furniture at St. James Anglican Nursery and Primary School, Ota
• Sponsorship of eye surgery for a 4-year-old boy (December 2024)
• Distribution of food items to 50 households in Idedo, Atan-Ota (December 2025)
He further announced the Club’s plan to equip the Youth Development Centre inside the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Secretariat with work tools before the end of his tenure in July.
Hon. Joel Okeodebija, Councillor representing Sango Ward, encouraged participants to maximize the opportunity and make the Club proud. Other dignitaries in attendance included Lion Modupe Olaoye (Zone 7C Chairperson), Prince Adefola Ojugbele (President, Ota Youth Assembly), Lion Chief Jonathan Orepo (Past Region Chair), and other stakeholders who celebrated the Club’s achievements.
The event marked the culmination of a week of purpose, passion, and progress—reaffirming that Ota Central Lions Club is indeed building the future, one empowered youth at a time.
