The Suspects, Stolen Recovered Three Vehicles, Two Live Cartridges, Foreign Currencies, So-Safe Corps Uniform, MP3 Sound System, Plasma Television Set

An intelligence-driven policing strategy and swift response to distress calls have led to the arrest of two notorious suspected armed robbers allegedly involved in terrorising residents of Adeleye Area, Itele, Ota, in Ogun State.
TheCaveat.com.ng reports that the suspects, identified as Mohammed Adeniyi Usman, popularly known as “Mandela,” aged 48, and Abiodun Ogunojukan, alias “Ilasa,” aged 38, are currently in police custody following their arrest by operatives of the Ifo and Sango Police Divisions of the Ogun State Police Command.
The operation, coordinated by the Divisional Police Officers, CSP Kamorudeen Olabisi of Ifo Division and CSP Idowu G. Olatunji of Sango Division, also led to the recovery of three suspected stolen vehicles, two live cartridges, foreign currencies, a So-Safe Corps uniform, an MP3 sound system, and a plasma television set.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the breakthrough followed investigations into earlier reported cases of armed robbery and vehicle snatching within the areas under the jurisdiction of the two divisions.
Babaseyi disclosed that acting on credible intelligence on Saturday, May 10, 2026, detectives from the Ifo Division stormed a suspected criminal hideout located in Adeleye Area, Itele, Ota, where stolen vehicles were allegedly being concealed.
Upon arriving at the scene around 4:00 p.m., operatives reportedly sighted the suspected stolen vehicles within the premises and immediately cordoned off the area while laying ambush for the suspects, who were absent at the time.
The operation eventually paid off around 10:35 p.m. with the arrest of Mohammed Adeniyi Usman, alias “Mandela.”
A subsequent search of the premises led to the recovery of a Toyota Corolla belonging to a complainant, a Toyota Venza allegedly stolen at gunpoint on April 26, 2026, at Ilese-Awo, Abeokuta, and a Honda Crosstour reportedly snatched during another robbery operation in Ijoko, Ota.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is allegedly part of a wider criminal syndicate specialising in armed robbery and vehicle snatching within Ogun State and neighbouring areas.
Further intelligence-led operations carried out on Sunday, May 11, 2026, at about 5:00 p.m., led operatives from the Ifo and Sango Divisions to the Sango-Ota Under Bridge, where the second suspect, Abiodun Ogunojukan, alias “Ilasa,” was apprehended.
Police said the suspect reportedly confessed to his involvement in the criminal activities and provided useful information that could assist investigators in tracking down other fleeing members of the syndicate and recovering additional stolen vehicles.
All recovered exhibits have since been documented and secured, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCIID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism, intelligence-led policing approach, and prompt response to distress calls.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, as well as sustaining the ongoing crackdown on criminal elements across the state.
The Command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information through the Ogun State Police Command emergency lines.
