The Ogun State Police Command has called on residents to promptly report security threats and distress situations through its newly highlighted 24-hour toll-free emergency line as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and community policing across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, made the appeal on Thursday during the commissioning of the Ota Divisional Police Headquarters in Ota, Ogun State., TheCaveat.com.ng reports.
Represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Bolanle Mustapha, Ojajuni said members of the public could reach the command’s Gateway Shield emergency line, 08100009111, free of charge at any time.
“We want to implore members of the public to make use of the police control room to report any incident during emergencies or whenever the attention of the police is needed,” he said.
The police commissioner also directed Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) across the state to display the emergency number prominently within their stations to improve public access to security services.
Ojajuni noted that the inauguration of the divisional headquarters aligned with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olatunji Disu, to deepen security presence and enhance grassroots policing nationwide.
According to him, the project was facilitated through the efforts of the Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, with the aim of bringing security architecture closer to the people.
Speaking during the event, Oba Obalanlege described the commissioning of the Ota Central Divisional Police Headquarters and a 40-bed Primary Health Centre as a significant milestone for Ota and the entire Aworiland.
“These projects stand as enduring symbols of progress, improved security, accessible healthcare and purposeful governance for our people,” the monarch stated.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to national development and praised Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for sustaining a peaceful and investment-friendly atmosphere in the state.
The monarch also acknowledged the contribution of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, for facilitating the projects.
TheCaveat.com.ng reports that both the Ota Divisional Police Headquarters and the 40-bed Primary Health Centre were facilitated by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs.
