No fewer than 147 suspected Hoodlums are currently cooling their feet in police custody, after they were arrested over the weekend, by the Lagos State Police Command in the nationwide operation KOS'AYE aimed at tackling crime and improving public safety across the country.
Thecaveat.com.ng reports that "Operation KOS'AYE', which entered Phase III on Saturday, is the brain-child of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, so codenamed for the boundary sweep operation, warning men of the underworld of no hiding place for their nefarious activities.
According to a security source, the exercise in Lagos was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Lawal Adeshina, and carried out simultaneously in different parts of the state.
The operation reportedly commenced at about 6:00 a.m. as part of the command’s sustained efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and enhance security across communities.
During the operation, police officers arrested a total of 147 suspects and recovered unspecified exhibits believed to be linked to criminal activities.
The command said the suspects are currently in police custody, where they are undergoing profiling as investigations continue.
According to the police, the suspects will be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation.
